Works on Paper

As in her paintings, Carrie Moyer combines different techniques and media in her works on paper, drawing on a variety of source material to inform her compositions. Working on paper, Moyer recalls, “I got really interested in the quality of light that’s harder to create on canvas.” She explains, “There’s a kind of immediacy and moodiness.” The immediacy and moodiness of these images are underscored by their saturation. Moyer attributes this quality to her “… fondness for a comic, sci-fi sensibility turned metaphysical and atmospheric through the repeated process of staining, salting, and spraying the surface with inks and water.”
