According to Silveira, works like the ones in Armarinhos “are examples of the diversity of the plotter cut-out applications used in my recent works [of the time].”
Elaborating upon her use of shadows in her work, Silveira explains that “For a long time, my work was characterized by the use of projected shadows, but in truth light always was involved in these projections of shadows by the simple relationship of causality between them. Light and shadow form a pair and are of unquestionable polarity … [What has possibly] led me to use light as a stronger poetic nucleus can be explained by another polarity, something such as reflecting on the constructed material and the immaterial.”
